Over the past few years hundreds of teachers have started to flip their classrooms in order to address the issue of too much curriculum to cover, too little time to do it in, and too many students with different learning paces, styles and needs.  These teachers are asking the question “What is the best use of face to face time with students in class?” Teachers who have successfully flipped often talk about the fact that they have more time in class to develop positive relationships, allowing more individualization and guidance.  Flipped learning can allow more class time to be spent on active learning that promotes higher order thinking.  Flipped learning can also enable students to take their learning further and explore their passions or to inquire deeper into the content as there is more time and flexibility for students to explore their own interests around a subject.  We will explore all of these ideas during this extended session.
